UTM link tracking

UTM parameters are little tags added to the end of a link (?utm_source=…&utm_medium=…) that analytics tools read, so you can see exactly which campaign, channel and source sent each visitor. Living Page can add them to your share link, your QR code, and your on-page links — and it formats every value to the analytics-safe convention for you.

UTM tracking on share links and QR codes is available on every plan, including Free.

  1. Open a published document and go to Share & embed.
  2. Turn on Link tracking. The editor opens with sensible defaults for a flipbook (source livingpage, medium flipbook, campaign set to the document’s title).
  3. Fill in the UTM fields you want. As you type, Living Page:
    • lower-cases values and replaces spaces with dashes (analytics tools treat Spring Sale and spring-sale as different, so this keeps your data from splitting),
    • strips characters that would break the link,
    • warns you about common mistakes — a platform name in the medium field, the same value repeated across parameters, a full URL or email address in a field, and so on.
  4. The Copy link button now copies the tracked version. Turn the toggle off to go back to the plain link — your values are remembered, so switching it back on restores them.

The three parameters worth always setting are source, medium and campaign. Term and content are optional extras for paid search and A/B-style links.

Instead of typing a value, you can drop in a merge tag that fills itself in from the document:

Tag Becomes
{{title}} The document’s title (e.g. spring-catalog)
{{client}} The workspace / client name
{{page}} The page a link sits on (on-page links only)
{{date}} Today’s date, YYYY-MM-DD
{{month}} The current month, YYYY-MM
{{year}} The current year, YYYY

For example, setting the campaign to {{title}} labels every flipbook with its own name automatically. Merge tags are resolved and formatted when the link is built, so a saved template works across every document.

Save a set of values as a template to reuse it later — handy if your team uses a consistent convention. Templates are shared across your workspace, so everyone tags links the same way.

When you open the QR code dialog, the first step lets you optionally add the same UTM parameters before the code is generated — so a scanned code lands under the right campaign too. Skip the step to encode the plain link.

If your plan includes clickable links and video overlays, you can add UTM tracking to any web link you draw on a page. Select the link, open Link tracking, and add the parameters (merge tags like {{page}} work here too). When you publish, the reader appends the tracked parameters to that link’s destination automatically.
