Password and email gate
Two ways to put something in front of a document before it opens. Both are available on Solo and above.
Password
Section titled “Password”Set a password from the document’s Share & embed panel. Readers see a prompt and must enter it before the pages load.
Email gate
Section titled “Email gate”The email gate asks for an address before the document opens, and adds it to a list you can see and export.
We store only the email address and the date. No IP address, no browser fingerprint, no name unless the reader is identified some other way.
Getting the addresses out
Section titled “Getting the addresses out”The document’s Leads panel lists everyone who’s opened it, and exports as CSV.
Read receipts
Section titled “Read receipts”You can turn on a notification that emails you the first time someone opens a gated document — useful for a proposal where the timing matters.
If you set both
Section titled “If you set both”The password takes precedence. A reader will be asked for the password, and the email gate won’t appear.
What readers see
Section titled “What readers see”Both gates work the same way whether the document is opened from a share link or an embed on your own site. An embedded gated document shows its gate inside the frame.
