Links and video overlays

Turn a flat page into something people can act on. Draw a link over any part of a page — a logo, a button, a printed web address — so a tap opens a webpage, jumps to another page, or starts an email. Or drop a video straight onto the page. It’s all done on the document’s Links tab.

Drawing your own links and video overlays is available on any paid plan. Hyperlinks that were already in your uploaded PDF are different — those work on every plan, including Free, and are covered in Links already in your PDF below.

Adding a link

Open a document, go to the Links tab, and draw a rectangle over the area you want to make clickable. A small editor opens for that box. Choose what it points to:

Web — any http(s) address. Turn Open in new tab on or off.
Page — jump to another page in the same flipbook.
Email — open the reader’s mail app with the address filled in.

You can give any link a label for your own reference. Drag the box to move it or use the corner handles to resize — it snaps to the edges of the page content to help you line things up.

Adding a video

Draw a box the same way and paste a video URL. We support YouTube, Vimeo and Loom. Living Page reads the link, pulls in the video’s thumbnail, and embeds a clean player in the box — the pasted URL is never shown to readers.

Two options per video:

Autoplay — start playing (muted) when the reader reaches the page.
Show controls — show or hide the play/scrubber bar over the video.

Links already in your PDF

If your original PDF has real hyperlinks in it, Living Page detects them automatically and turns them into clickable areas on the matching pages — no drawing required.

These work on every plan, including Free. They are part of the document you uploaded rather than something added on top of it, so they are not part of the paid feature and they keep working if you downgrade. On a paid plan you can also adjust or delete them like any link you drew yourself; on Free they simply work as they are.

Draft, then publish

Your edits save as a draft as you work — readers don’t see them yet. When you’re ready, press Publish changes and everything you’ve added or edited goes live at once. This lets you lay out a whole document’s links and videos, preview it, and release it in one go.

Deleting a link that’s already live keeps it working for readers until your next publish, so you can undo a mistake before it reaches anyone.

What readers see

Published links and videos appear on the flipbook wherever it’s opened — from a share link or an embed on your own site. Links show a subtle highlight on hover; videos play inline.

Web links are checked for malware and phishing when you save them. Most of the time you will never notice — but if a destination looks dangerous you will not be able to add it, and if one looks uncertain readers see a warning before they continue.
